Med-X can reduce monies spent on expensive transportation utilization management
As one of the most cost effective programs, TUM is offered to Commercial Health Insurers, HMO’s, Labor Unions and other Managed Care Organizations. In a report issued by the U.S. Office of the Inspector General, 30% of non-emergency Medicare transportations are unnecessary. The figure is even higher in the private sector. As a client of TUM, Med-X will establish a dedicated call center for incoming transportation requests. Using established Medicare criteria and under the supervision of our Medical Director, Med-X Transportation Coordinators will prescreen all incoming calls and assign the transportation request to the provider utilizing the appropriate level of transportation. By utilizing the most medically appropriate level of transportation, Med-X can reduce monies spent on expensive transportation utilization management by redirecting the request to a lower and more appropriate mode of transport. The TUM program is offered in conjunction with Med-X’s network or can be used to with an insurer’s current provider network.
As a client of TUM, Med-X will provide onsite education for the insurer’s in-house Utilization Managers, Case Managers as well off site facility based Discharge Planners, Case Managers, Social Workers and other hospital staff. Additionally, Med-X always provides initial “meet and greet” events for the insurers current transportation providers. Co-branded marketing material is provided at no charge.
