Air Ambulance by Med-X
Often times due to the nature of a patient's injuries or illness and the distance they must travel, Aero Medical Transportation is the only safe option. Anytime a person must travel more than 200 miles, Aero Medical
Transportation is a practical solution. Med-X provides 3 levels of Aero Medical service. Each level is designed to meet the patient’s medical needs while remaining cost effective for the insurer.
Dedicated Air Ambulance – These specially designed fixed wing aircraft (planes) are designed to transport the most serious of cases distances over 200 miles. Each aircraft is pressurized and equipped with all necessary medical equipment and supplies. The type of aircraft and medical staff is determined by our Medical Director and the patient’s attending physician. Luggage and family members may be able to accompany the patient on the flight based on the patient’s medical needs and weight/space allowances. All Air Ambulance service includes ground ambulance services to/from the airport.
Commercial Stretcher – This service is available via several commercial airlines, usually on transcontinental flights. A section of a commercial aircraft can be sectioned off and reconfigured to accommodate a stretcher and medical staff. The patient’s privacy is protected by curtains and medical staff can attend to the patient during flight. Med-X provides all staff and medical equipment as well ground transportation. This service is subject to availability and approval from the airline’s medical director.
Medical Air Escort (MAE) – MAE is designed for the patient that needs that extra hand while traveling. Patients that are candidates for this service usually suffer from non-life-threatening illnesses/injuries and semi-ambulatory. Med-X books first class passage for your patient and our escort on commercial flights. The escort is there to assist the patient with luggage, boarding and needs that arise during flight. All arrangements including ground transportation are made through Med-X. Ground transportation can be arranged by car service or wheelchair van depending on the patient's needs. If the patient needs medication during flight for pain management, a nurse escort can be arranged. This service is available both domestically and internationally.
